What is spyware?
The first documented use of spyware software occurred in 1995 and was actually placed on computers for the purpose of documenting activities of the user. However the good intent of the software quickly failed and by 2000 the founders of spyware released a statement claiming it as a total loss. It is often through an un-approved download, directly to the computer’s hard drive where it grows larger and becomes more powerful. Spyware can steal personal information from your computer as well as record the history of your computer activity. When it becomes overpowering on your hard drive it can use this information as if it were you and operate online. Spyware can be removed but often causes damage to the hard drive before removal takes place.
