Spyware Tools

The internet today is full of viruses and spyware software that can contaminate entire computer hard drives and even networks.  One can never take too much precaution when it comes to their safety and personal information on their computer.  Computers hold much information about their user from their name and address to the passwords they have used to log onto their banking information.  Contracting a virus or spyware software can be damaging and can release personal information and files.  Steps must be taken to prevent such occurrences and to keep your personal information safe and secure.  There are many tools that are installed in your computer that can aid you in blocking and preventing the spread of spyware throughout your computer system.  These spyware tools are often not used to the best of their capabilities because users often don’t know they exist.

First and foremost the most important tool, above all other spyware tools, is an anti-virus program.  Your computer, most likely, did not come with a protection program installed in it.  It is almost mandatory for you to purchase a spyware protection program and install it on your hard drive.  These types of programs are designed to block all spyware software that comes from the internet or even other computers on your network.  These programs are also designed to search your hard drive for spyware and if it is located they can remove them.  While these programs are great for removing spyware programs from your computer you can prevent them from even downloading if you are using a protection program from the beginning.  Spyware can cause much damage to your hard drive and to prevent any such damage from occurring it is wise to invest in a protection program.

Other spyware tools already exist on your computer to prevent spyware from entering.  The first tool that falls in this category is your computers firewall.  All computers come intact with a firewall system that is designed to oversee all the functions of your computer.  The firewall notes what is downloaded and where it came from; whether it be the internet or another computer in your net work.  In the control panel of every computer is a system that allows you to change the settings of the firewall of your computer.  Most often your computers firewall is automatically set to mid-grade protection, however this is often not good enough; which is why many computers still become infected.  However, users are able to change the settings so that the firewall protects your computer to the best of its ability.  Many firewalls have options for users to choose which types of software are ok to download and which are not.  This means that with a simple click of a mouse your computer can be better protected against spyware software and other harmful viruses that can harm your computer’s hard drive.

The second toll you can use to better protect your computer from spyware is your internet.  Unlike other spyware tools your internet browser is directly related to the ability of spyware to penetrate your computer’s hard drive.  Most commonly, the Internet Explorer browser allows spyware software to pass through to the computer’s hard drive because spyware is designed to break it down.  It is advised that a browser other then Internet Explorer is used to promote safety and prevent the spread of spyware.  Additionally all internet browsers have security settings that can allow users to block practically any site or download that is un secured.  Often times these settings to not come in place with your browser and you must change its settings to reflect the security level you desire.  With this tool it is only a matter of seconds before your computer is better protected against spyware software.
